Take a journey back in time to the Faubourg Marigny community, which was New Orleans first suburb.
It was founded at the turn of the 19th century, when it quickly became home to people from all backgrounds, including refugees from Haiti. On this tour, you'll learn about the founding of the community, the architecture which dates from the 1800s till the present, and the architects who designed the most famous buildings. Discover more about the people who lived in the majestic homes and tropical colored shotgun and Creole cottages.
You and your group will also learn about the Creole people, and why they didn't always get along with newly arrived Americans. Hear about Bernard De Marigny, the area's most notable Creole and how he influenced the area to make the neighborhood what it is even today.
