Your incredible evening begins just after sunset when you meet up with a knowledgeable local astronomer. Your guide will work with you to find a dark, safe location suitable for stargazing based on where you're staying on the island of Oahu. As darkness begins to cover the horizon, you’ll be amazed as thousands of stars begin to twinkle above you. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a shooting star zipping across the sky!
Using a large, portable telescope, your guide will help you spot planets, constellations, the Milky Way, and so much more. Equipped with special nebula filters and up to 600x magnification power, you’ll be able to view cosmic objects like never before! Zoom in on the craters of the moon, see Saturn’s rings, or view the colorful clouds of a nebula. On certain evenings, you may even be able to see the international Space Station and the Hubble Space Telescope!
While scanning the night sky, listen as your guide shares Hawaiian myths about the night sky. You’ll also learn all about Polynesian celestial navigation and wayfinding techniques. Before the evening is over, your guide will also help you take one-of-a-kind moon photos with your smart device!
