As I have always loved airplanes, my wife gave me a flying lesson as a birthday present. It was a fun experience! The pilot was great. She was friendly, patient and professional, and she explained everything from pre-flight checklist into the air. She also really tried to involve me as much as possible in the flight -- letting me take the controls, help spot other aircraft in the sky nearby and even push the aircraft back into its parking spot on the tarmac when we landed. The only NEGATIVES were that the reservation process was clunky, and also because I wasn't able to use the gift certificate immediately, by the time I booked I had to pay an extra $55.00 in order to redeem it. In addition, in our region, the flying was only available in one airport near Atlanta. We moved to North Carolina recently and there were no locations here, so we had to drive the seven hours back to Atlanta to do the flight.

WOW! Very intense experience! I really enjoyed the 6-lap ride-along at Talladega. Getting me in and out of the car, not so much. I am 70, stiff neck, inflexible back, 250 lbs, 5'10". I knew it would be an issue. You need more than one gentlemen assisting someone like me get into the car. I proceeded slowly until the point where I had to get the helmet the last two inches in the car. The gentlemen then seemed to rush, gave the top of my head two shoves, causing my neck to "pop" as I finally cleared the window. If we had not rushed, I believe I could have slowly gotten in. Getting out of the car was easier except the last couple of inches to get to where I could sit on top of the window. Your gentlemen did assist me there by raising me from under my shoulders to the window and from there it was easy. Just think someone like me could use a bit more assistance. But it did not spoil the ride. One more "bucket list" item accomplished.
