There’s nothing quite like a leisurely bike ride through the idyllic Napa Valley vineyards. This wine and bike tour will take you along rolling country lanes as you explore the gorgeous wine country of Northern California.
The tour starts when you meet your knowledgeable guide in charming downtown Calistoga. Your guide will get you outfitted on your comfortable cross trail hybrid bike and give you some quick tips on the local biking etiquette and road rules. Once you’re all set, it’s time to hit the road.
Cruise down quiet winding lanes and listen closely as your guide teaches you all about Napa Valley’s history and wine making heritage. You’ll visit 2 different wineries, where you’ll have the chance to talk with vintners, take a tour of their cellars, and – of course – taste the delicious world-class reds and whites that the region is known for.
Along the way, your guide will pick a scenic spot for your gourmet picnic lunch. Sit back and take in views of the Palisades that frame the valley below. Dig into a delicious spread of organic and locally grown foods like fresh green salads and vegetables, slices of honey baked ham, smoked wild Alaskan salmon and artisan cheeses. Finish things off with a dessert of fruit and cookies for some extra fuel for the rest of your tasting adventure before returning back to downtown Calistoga.

What To Wear
How long/far will we ride?
The tour will last about 5.5 hours and cover approximately 10-15 miles at a moderate pace with stops about every 5 miles. The route is mainly flat with a few rolling hills along the way.
Are there wine tasting fees and how much do they cost?
This tour tries to choose wineries that do not charge, but sometimes it is unavoidable. Wine tasting fees vary from $10 to $35 per person per winery. In most cases you can share a taste (one glass) with another member of your group and many wineries will reimburse your tasting fee if you make an additional purchase.
What types of bikes will we be using? What about clips?
This tour uses Specialized Cross Trail hybrid bikes with upright handlebars for comfort. They come with a front bag to store your personal items. You can also choose from touring and road bikes, mountain bikes, cruisers and tandems. Please let Virgin Experience Gifts know at the time of booking if you would prefer to use one of these other bikes. There is a limited supply of clip-less pedals, or the provider can remove pedals so you can attach your own.
What food will be served for lunch? What about dietary restrictions?
The meal is a gourmet wine country style picnic. The menu varies due to what is in season locally, but examples of items served are: smoked fish; turkey breast or ham; pasta salad with sun dried tomatoes, pesto and artichoke hearts; tossed green salads with in-season vegetables; and local artisan cheeses. Please let Virgin Experience Gifts know of any dietary restrictions at the time of booking to see if special accommodations can be made.

On this tour, you may visit 3 of the following: Chateau Montelena, Bennett Lane, Envy, Summers, Lava Vine, August Briggs, Frank Family, Twomey, T Vine, and Clos Pegase, among others. In an effort to keep the tour fresh and exciting, this tour is ever-evolving and this list is subject to change.
Returns
Experience Vouchers that have not been redeemed can be returned hassle-free within 14 days. All refunds will be made to the original purchaser.

Experience Vouchers that have not been redeemed can be exchanged for anything else in our marketplace at any time. If you choose to exchange for an experience that costs more, you'll simply have to pay the difference.
