Depending on the season, you’ll either hike to the picturesque Barbara Falls or through the alpine tundra of the Glen Alps. No matter where you go, you’ll be surrounded by jaw-dropping beauty. What To Wear
How hard is the hike?
The hike is 2 miles round trip and has an elevation gain of 200 feet. It is considered easy to moderate. You should be able to walk at least 3 miles on flat pavement, or 2 miles of uneven rolling terrain over the course of 2 hours. You should also be able to balance well and feel comfortable walking in muddy and slippery conditions. Some parts of the trail are steep and hilly, placing additional stress on areas of the body not impacted by level terrain.
How long is the drive from Anchorage?
It takes approximately 30 minutes to drive from Anchorage to the trailhead.

You'll begin in Anchorage and drive to Chugach State Park where you'll hike to the picturesque Barbara Falls.

The trailhead varies throughout the season. You'll either hike to Barbara Falls or explore the alpine tundra of the Glen Alps. Both destinations are incredible!
